The newly designed MacBook Pro (or Mac Book Pro) has received a makeover. And not only in appearance. This high end Mac laptop has been spruced up with the latest technology. And the Apple "Mac Pro" is engineered to standards of the future.

Like its cousin, the MacBook, the MacBook Pro is more durable, lighter and thinner than its previous version. It meets ENERGY Star requirements and was designed with the environment in mind (free of arsenic and mercury).

The Next Generation MacBook Pro

Made from one piece of aluminum with a choice between a 15.4" or 17" LED backlit display. The smooth glass multitouch trackpad is now standard. And the ever popular illuminated keyboard is back.

The aluminum and glass enclosed screen features a high pixel count (1680x1050 or 1920x1200). Together with the NVIDIA graphics, the impressive backlit display is truly spectacular.

The MacBook Pro can accommodate all of your peripherals. Two USB ports (three on the 17 inch), including ports for your:

• digital camera
• external hard drive

So what are the other differences between the old MacBook Pro and the next generation MacBook Pro?

The new 15.4" MacBook Pro increased:

• display type from Widescreen TFT-LCD (1440 x 900) to Widescreen LED (1440 x 900)
• graphics from NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT to NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
• memory from 800MHz DDR2 to 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
• expandable system memory to 4GB
• solid-state trackpad to multitouch trackpad

The 17" MacBook Pro increased:

• hard drive from 250GB to 320GB
• system memory from 2GB to 4GB

The MacBook Pro affords more computing power than the Macbook. It is capable of running several system hungry resources. If you don't need a souped up laptop, the MacBook or MBA would suit you fine. The thinnest laptop on the market remains the MacBook Air. For frequent travelers the Air would be your best bet.
