Apple iPad Name Jokes

iPad name jokes abounded when the Apple tablet pc announcement was made.

Feminine hygiene products were often compared to the Apple iPad. In fact, iTampon was a trending topic on Twitter, ahead of "Apple's iPad."

While it is a great name in that it mainains the "i" line of branding, many questioned the naming decision for what has been touted the best tablet PC.

"Are there any women on Apple's marketing team?" Answer: Apparently not. (Period.)

There was even a Mad TV iPad skit.

"Slate is a little bit 'Flintstones,' " said Stephen Hutcheon, an editor at The Sydney Morning Herald.

If you remember, the name iPod also sounded odd back in 2001. Now it's a household name.

And "pad" can also mean "home" where people will likely use it to read books and watch movies.
